My interest in mosaics started in 2007 during a trip to Italy.  I was in awe of the beautiful, ancient mosaics I saw everywhere.  On the plane back, a chance magazine article I read about a lady who made mosaic art for her garden convinced me I could make mosaics so I got started.  I learned everything I could from books and articles, other mosaic artists that I met, and trial and error.  I enjoyed the therapy I derived from designing and working on each piece.

I like to incorporate sentimental items into my mosaics, such as pieces of Grandma's china or a special coin or piece of jewelry, so that the art is unique and special to eachperson for which it is made.

My brother-in-law had a guitar in his garage that was too damaged to play, but, being a musician, he could not bear to throw it away.  I decided try to make it into mosaic art and was thrilled with the results.

Inspiration for the Piece:

Having previously done a mosaic guitar, when I heard about all of the damaged guitars from the May flood in Nashville, I started trying to find some guitars for my mosaics.  In my search, I found "ReTune Nashville."  After reading their mission statement, I knew this was something I wanted to do.  I have been a Beatles fan since the age of seven.so the image of the sun rising over the Nashville skyline and the Beatles song "Here Comes the Sun" seemed like the perfect title for this piece.
